ASCO puts its people first with LinkedIn for Nonprofits
Founded in 1964, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is the world’s leading professional organization for oncology professionals caring for people with cancer. ASCO’s HR leaders leverage LinkedIn for Nonprofits to support a holistic talent strategy that centers around skills development, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and ensuring that employees' voices are heard.
ASCO needed an affordable way to scale its learning and development offerings, provide leaders with actionable feedback from employees, and build a skilled, diverse workforce. Any new solutions also needed to work seamlessly with the organization’s HRIS system.
Powering a people-first talent strategy
ASCO rolled out LinkedIn Learning for all staff, enabling the organization to share guided content matched to different job families to fuel career development. HR leaders also conduct regular surveys using Glint to gain a clearer picture of employee engagement and feedback, so they can connect team members to growth opportunities, provide relevant resources, and have more informed DEI discussions. On the hiring side, ASCO adopted LinkedIn Recruiter, allowing talent leaders to proactively reach out to and foster deeper connections with candidates—while confirming functional skills.
Learning engagement is up 15% compared to ASCO’s previous platform. Staff love the guided resources and option to showcase completed courses on their LinkedIn profiles.
ASCO has seen a 103% increase in staff comments on engagement surveys, with automation empowering HR leaders to rapidly extract and act on insights.
Hire the right people
1 in 3 new hires at ASCO are now sourced from LinkedIn, and the organization leverages insights to inform its talent strategy.
“LinkedIn for Nonprofits has allowed us to understand our staff’s learning and development needs better, recruit new talent faster, and make smarter decisions based on reliable data so ASCO can continue with our mission to conquer cancer.”
